Top of the Muffin To You! Spike Feresten, host of FOX’s Talk Show with Spike Feresten and former Seinfeld writer, called in. Did you know that the muffin top episode was based on a girl he knew who would only eat the tops of the muffin, but not because the tops were the most delicious? Turns out she just had an eating disorder. Kind of hard to believe, every good anorexic knows to stay away from carbs altogether. Feresten also described the time he took Jerry Seinfeld to meet the original Soup Nazi. Once recognized by the Nazi, they got thrown out for having ruined his life with publicity, and the other patrons in line stayed out of it for fear they would leave without soup. That actually happened.
And now…. Advice Spike Feresten received from other comedians when learning how to host a talk show:
Leno — Keep telling jokes, stay off the Internet
Seinfeld — A loud performance will cover a bad performance
Kimmel — Wear a tie
